I Have a Wish

I have this wish. I wish to begin a movement. Across the world. I see people marching. They chant and carry donuts, tools, brooms, and window cleaning supplies. They race towards businesses and sweep, fix, hand out delicious bits of donuts, and shine windows. Then they move on, chanting, doing more good deeds. A few ambassadors walk in front of the marchers and greet people ahead, offering words of comfort and assurance. A few follow the marchers and leave parting words of encouragement and hope.

Dr. Martin Luther King once said, “Hate begets hate; violence begets violence; toughness begets a greater toughness. We must meet the forces of hate with the power of love.” (1958)

I have this wish. I wish for all of us to know that life matters. All life. Because every living thing is connected. And every living thing wants to live. People, animals, trees, plants, and bugs. Everything.
